Dresden is more than just a city to me – it’s the place where I first stood on my own. This is where I studied, far from home, and where I first consciously encountered the term East Germany. I feel the discontent, the fractures of history, but at the same time, I see the people who don’t fit into simple political categories. Dresden is so much more than what the media make of it. It is contradictory, diverse, vibrant. And right in the middle of it, there’s me – a part of this colorful crowd that exists here, too.
