'spaces between places, not out of sight, but out of mind'
Gordon Matta-Clark, Fake Estates 1971-1973
As every inch of the earth is considered unique and finite, the fabric of every urban context is under pressure from real estate development—a business driven by large-scale projects that often overlook the actual context and purpose.
“Odd lots”—urban leftover spaces with specific yet peculiar characteristics—are deemed unattractive within this sphere despite their inherent individual potential. These parcels, often already sealed or built upon, occupy limited space yet fail to realize their true, context-specific possibilities.
These radically individual leftover plots play an important role within the urban fabric by introducing an element of the uncontrolled and multifaceted, which in turn demands an absolute sensitivity in the tailored development of programs and typologies.

A huge thank you goes to my team partner Michi, without whom this wonderful project would not have been realised. Our endless discussions only came to an end when we both had the feeling that we were fully behind the project. We were supported by Prof. Tina Gregoric and her team from the Department of Building Theory at the Vienna University of Technology.
